In February 2008, while Father Ubald who happened to us, is in Rwanda in the whole area of ​​the Diocese of Cyangugu, a major earthquake occurred which has caused enormous damage to many institutions of the diocese, churches and schools. The parish church of our partners Nyamasheke was severely affected. More than a third of the whole building had to be demolished and rebuilt.

As a partner of the parish Nyamasheke of course we had a special obligation to help quickly. It was the real thing to test for the strength of our bond that binds us together for so many years.

Thanks to many friends and helpers, I was in a very short time an amount of € 35 000, - begging, which started the construction work was completed. Already in November 2008, that is only nine months after the terrible earthquake, which could be restored parish church dedicated to new and again placed under the protection of the Holy Virgin of Lourdes.

During our visit in July this year, we could now visit the new look revived church and celebrate Mass there. Bishops, priests and the whole parish is full of thanks on the quick help and reassure us all over again to include in their daily prayer of thanks.
